Big Metal Month (October)

Big Metal Month was a new idea I had to keep up with some of the giant labels in heavy metal releasing new albums from well known bands. Since I have chosen to spend all of my time with dungeon synth and things no one else cares about, it is surprising to see some of metal’s biggest releases pass without notice. Big Metal Month also sounds like a comic book which comes in an oversized magazine with lots of pictures. This obviously makes me happy. Please use this column to…

ENSLAVED – E (2017)

Well, here we are with Enslaved and boy do we have a lot to talk about. Enslaved is fairly new to me meaning that aside from this Norwegian band being monumental in any black metal list or article, much of their post 2000’s work was vague to me. This came in conflict with the band’s continual popularity with each of their records. Last year I feel backwards into the band’s discography working my way from a frosty viking black metal band into a psychotropic warriors plunging their way through a…

Pathfinder Log (2nd Entry): Into The Shingles

Current Party Level: 2-3 This is a continuation of my Pathfinder campaign as GM running through one of the more famous campaigns The Curse of the Cirmson Throne. As reported last log, Korvosa is on the edge of anarchy with the death of its king and the mysterious regency of the Queen. These events eventually become the problems of the party where they emerge from dealing with Gadren Lamm to find themselves the errand boys and girls for the Korvosa guard. How did this happen? DUNGEON SYNTH DIGEST XXIX

Dungeons Synth XXIX

Perched along the banks of the mighty River Shrill, this isolated frontier settlement is the last stop on the caravan routes. The mile-wide river is all that separates the Fort from the shadowy bulk known only as “The Hill,” a land of nameless terrors and ancient legend. The fog-shrouded crests and densely wooded slopes of The Hill rise 400 feet, looming ominously over the tiny settlement. On clear days, The Hill’s rocky cliffs can be seen jutting from its bulky mass, but the view is usually obscured by gouts of…

Exploring Ixalan

ixalan magic the gathering

Foreword I have always wanted to do more Magic the Gathering content on this site but have found myself unable to frame a good concept. For the past couple of years I have predominantly played Commander (EDH) with various plunges into Pauper, Legacy, and Modern formats. Even though Magic has taken up a large portion of my life, I felt in no way informed enough to write articles on the subject. More so, the amount of content and things I wanted to talk about was so vast, I could not…

Dungeon Synth Compilation IX: Trials in the Shadow Realm

This is not only the 9th volume in the dungeon synth compilation but the third chapter in an ongoing musical narrative. Back in the early part of 2017, an idea for a dungeon synth compilation was raised both on the Facebook page as well as the dungeon synth forum. Not to have conflicting or competing compilations that could possibly be confusing for some, the two were consolidated, planned, and released together. At this moment, there are three volumes released seasonally with one being traditional, one being experimental, and finally one…
