EPIC DOOOOOOOOOOM. Okay that is out of the way. I have seen Crypt Sermon numerous times since Philadelphia is semi local to Washington DC so shows and festivals are not out of this bands range. what I have noticed each time I have seen them is not only a handle on the epic doom source material but an infectious love for the music and everything they are doing. The Ruins of Fading Light is the second record following the band’s 2015 and most successful debut Out of the Garden. The Ruins of Fading Light continues the band’s exploration of the crypts of doom with soaring vocals, resonating riffs, and a narrative of epic themes. This is also the second record for the band on Dark Descent which is usually known for its cavernous death and misery but something like this is a ray of tarnished sunlight on a cloudy day. Doom comes for us all.
