I remember loving Insomnium during the time period when they released Winter’s Gate. 2016 was a special time since I really got into Winter’s Gate despite not really enjoying much melodic death before hand. One of the reasons for getting into Winter’s Gate was the album being one track (technically split into 6-7 parts). This was interesting and combined with an unassuming cover, it was a perfect entry point for a band that I had little reference to. We are now a few years later with the band’s 8th record and a bunch of singles that are…well…not as inspiring. Listen, I could be completely wrong when this record actually releases but seeing the videos from this band sort of ruins the mystique for me since I can see their faces. We will see but I walk into this record with my eyes closed.
